The Basics
times
A Fusion Rugby match lasts for 40 minutes with two 20 minute halves and a five minute half time break. The clock starts when the referee blows the starting whistle and runs unless the referee calls a stoppage in play.
The game starts with the ball placed in the centre of the court with all players two metres away from the ball. Teams will compete to win the ball at the start.
Passing the ball
The ball can be passed in any direction but must remain within the boundaries of the court at all times. Should the ball or wheelchair go out of bounds then a lineout is played.
scoring
A try is scored when a player carries the ball across the opposing team’s goal line and is in between the goal posts or cones. At minimum of two wheels of the player’s wheelchair must fully cross the line, and the player must have full possession and be in full control of the ball at the time just like in rugby union.
If an able bodied player scores a try one point will be added to the score. Players with physical disabilties score five points for a try.
